Odin Taylor

October 2018

Odin David Taylor was born on October 17, 2017 at 12:45am. He was beautiful and so happy when he was born. His sister, Solaris fell in love with him right away. Odin lives with his Mom (Danielle), his three-year old sister, and his new Kitten (Hex). Odin was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer, when he was about seven months old. He had always had a solid distended belly and for six months his doctor ignored it and saying gas was all it was until she couldn’t anymore. She ordered an ultrasound to be done on Odin’s belly and after viewing the imaging immediately sent him to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Odin spent just over a month inpatient in the oncology ward while they did tests, biopsy, blood work, imaging, etc.

On May 18th, 2018 he was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma. He had a “root” tumor on his left adrenal gland measuring over 6cm. It had luckily only spread to his liver where he had massive clusters of tumors of varying sizes. He immediately began chemotherapy. Since May, he has had 6 cycles of chemo, a spinal tap, marrow biopsy, liver biopsy, two surgeries, countless imaging scans, and has spent a total of about three months in the hospital. Odin is about half way through treatment. He still has one surgery, at least one stem cell transplant, localized radiation treatment and immunotherapy left to do.

Odin is such a sweet and strong little boy. Through this whole thing he has remained happy and active and has progressed so much in development. He’s so brave and we are all so proud of him.
