Della ROse hodges
July 2020
Dellah Rose was born on September 5th, 2019 in Bend, Oregon. After noticing that one of her eyes was acting abnormally, she had her first MRI at 21 weeks. The results showed that there was a mass in her brain.
After a few more doctor appointments and a biopsy, it was confirmed that Dellah had a High Grade Astrocytoma Glioma that was not able to be removed surgically because of where it is. The tumor is located in her mid-brain and pons, the location that controls her hormones and basic bodily functions. The only option of treating her cancer at this time is weekly chemotherapy at Doernbecher Children's Hospital which is about 4 hours away from where we live.
She is now 9 months old and has been tolerating the treatments as best as any infant can, with occasional sickness and more naps than usual. However, the therapy has affected her weight gain, and now like many other children with cancer, she has a nasal gastric tube to help her get the calories she needs to continue to grow normally.
Dellah is a happy and wonderful little girl, and as our only child we can only hope and pray that she continues to do well and grows into a beautiful woman, someday.
Dellah loves to cuddle, give kisses and dance to music! She loves watching Disney's Tangled, Coco and the Princess and the Frog.
